Working Conversations Episode 146:
My Digital Detox Results
Have you ever contemplated a digital detox?
Have you wondered what would happen if you dialed back the screen time, especially on the addictive smartphone?
If you’ve been following along in this podcast, I took the plunge six weeks ago, vowing to significantly reduce my non-work screen time. Today, I unveil the outcome of my own version of digital detox – the struggles, the victories, and the unexpected revelations that emerged from investigating my own screen habits.
So if you haven’t already listened to Episode 140 where I explained what I was going to do and why, let me quickly catch you up.
I proposed a screen diet – a conscious approach to managing your time spent on digital devices. It's about finding balance and making sure that your screen time is enriching and meaningful.
My process started with a covenant – basically a promise to myself about what I was doing and why. So here is the covenant I wrote – my promise to myself:
“I will create freedom from my phone in my life. I will be conscious of spending time on my phone when I am engaged in passive screen time. I will spend weekend mornings screen free. I will provide encouragement to anyone who wants to join me on this journey.”
I encourage you to embark on this digital journey with me and discover the transformative power of a deliberate break from the screen-heavy routine.
Whether you're contemplating a digital detox or simply curious, this episode offers universal insights.
