Working Conversations Episode 139:
How to Stop Phubbing
Ever felt like you were competing with someone's smartphone for their attention?
Picture this…
> Pouring your heart out to someone, only to notice their eyes wandering toward their phone.
> You're at work, in a meeting with your manager, and they seem more engrossed in their screen than your words.
The culprit? Phubbing— snubbing someone by dividing your attention between them and your phone.
Or maybe, you’re the one who’s guilty of phubbing someone at work or at home – or both.
It’s a bit of a paradox – you’re trying to stay connected to someone who is not present with you, at the expense of the person who is present with you.
The ubiquity of smartphones has given rise to this pervasive behavior, and understanding its consequences is crucial for fostering healthier connections.
In this episode, I delve into the detrimental impact of phubbing on workplace relationships, personal connections, and mental well-being.
So whether you're grappling with your own smartphone habits or navigating the challenges posed by phubbing in your interactions, this episode offers valuable insights and practical solutions.
Let's collectively unplug from the habit of phubbing and build stronger, more meaningful connections.
